About ImageRW

ImageRW is a focused website for practical image processing tasks and image workflow education.

What ImageRW is for

People regularly need to change an image before using it. A file may be too large, the dimensions may not fit a layout, a service may require a particular format, or an image may need to be cropped for a fixed frame. ImageRW provides simple tools for these situations and explains the reasoning behind common choices.

How the tools work

Where a tool supports local browser processing, your browser reads the selected file, performs the transformation and creates a new output file. The source image does not need to be uploaded to a remote server for the core operation.

How we approach content

Guides are written around practical questions: what a format does, why a file is large, when resizing is useful, how compression changes an image and what trade-offs a workflow creates. We aim to add explanations and examples rather than publish pages that only repeat a keyword.

Quality and limitations

Image processing results depend on the source file, browser, encoder and chosen settings. For important work, review the output before publishing or submitting it. Keep the original source so you can create another derivative later.
